Finished this today;

Spent pretty much all day yesterday chiseling through an enormous block of concrete to put a new post in the corner, I was so tempted a Amazon Prime myself an SDS drill. I wish I had too, doing it with a big chisel I caught the back of my hand with a hammer, it's awfully swollen and tender now.

i hate it when people watch you when your hammering on that chisel just waiting for you to miss

nowadays if knowing im doing a concrete job easier to buy a sds at 50.00 for a 5kg and give that some stick as i do it often

Just a bit. Not as much as a broken hand though so hopefully it's just bruised.
Here's what the fence used to look like;

Notice the slats don't line up with the panel to the right of it. The post 12 inches from the corner was actually two arris rails nailed together too.
The mitre saw bodge lasted about an hour hacking up firewood before it died again.

Got more done on the press today.
Made a jack plate and rod/ram/pressy thing??? From some 20mm bar and 10mm plate.


Then attached to guide arm with some fairly decent welds for me (best I have managed on round stuff yet!)

Vast improvement there! Hope the hand 'heals' OK - keep an eye on it though in case you've chipped a bone or something.

@Turbo bet you didn't take as me making (or thinking about making) yours.
The solvent weld pipe is certainty better, harder pipe and a finish that doesn't pick up dirt as easily.
Screwfix was the only place I could get it as well, none of the local plumber merchants do it.

I'm thinking of turning ABS bungs for the bottom on mine.
I was going to make them out of discs cut out of inspection bungs.

However does anyone know of a source for ABS sheet (or another cheap product) that uses similar white ABS plastic?
About 5mm thick would be nice as it would be easier to machine a step to keep the pipe round.
I've found the ABS goes very soft during welding.

Nothing was done until receiving a screwfix discount voucher coincided with me having spare ££ plus deciding to sort out the many boxes of welding rods I have. I now have a full selection of mma rods stored in the garage in water tight tubes plus all my tig rods transferred from their cardboard boxes.

Nothing was done until receiving a screwfix discount voucher coincided with me having spare ££ plus deciding to sort out the many boxes of welding rods I have. I now have a full selection of mma rods stored in the garage in water tight tubes plus all my tig rods transferred from their cardboard boxes.

I called into B&Q yesterday to see what ABS they had and came away with a FloPlast rain water gutter hopper for £8
Should be able to make over a dozen bungs out of it.
Pity I only need 3, but I think it will be a neater job and they will be about the 5mm thickness I was after.
I haven't finished complicating this yet.

Fed up of finding Lego everywhere.

I may countersunk fill and paint but the forecast doesn't look promising right now

Should be just about right. Big stuff had another home.

That's brilliant, we could have done with one of those when my brother and I were little; we had a blanket box filled a few inches deep with Lego, no fun shovelling it all back in before bed.

My old man made me a box out of ply when I was a nipper. About 1.2x1m and 100mm high with a hinges lid and plenty of divisions.
Wish I knew where it went.
Most of it vanished when my parents split.

Eek. Looks massive now it's inside.

Not looking forward to negotiating the stairs tomorrow.

Made a deal with my 7yo.
He's helping to clear all the nasty new Star wars toys and the vintage micro machine sets and there all going on eBay.
Funds raised will be spent on Lego Technics. He's been building gears and linkages all week and chomping at the bit for a decent set.

Took some time today to sort my washing machine/tumble dryer/utility cupboard (too small to call a room). My beloved hubby had laid laminate flooring years ago, but the cupboard always felt cold and damp, even at the height of summer.

Discovered the outside tap he fitted was fed through the cupboard behind the washing machine, and had been leaking for years, he had never got round to refitting the skirting (hence cold), and had fed water pipes through huge holes behind the washing machine, leaving gaps right down to the foundations. It had long ago turned into a dumping cupboard, so I never realised how bad it really was until I finally got around to emptying it.

I’ve kept the flooring for the moment, but fitted new skirting, filled in the holes, and generally tidied up the plumbing into to something non leaking.

Bless his little cotton socks, but he was really carp at diy. But that should solve a few winter problems, just the cat steps to make next week, and I shall be a happy bunny.

no need to be embarrassed mrsbruce theres plenty of diys out there that are really poor doing that sort of work

as long as its tidied and no longer leaking thats the main thing as well as the draft coming in
