My niece just bought her first car, a 2004 BMW Mini Cooper.
I was asked to fix a non working electric window & a few other issues. Having inspected the car & seen the lack of proper servicing I have decided to give it a full service myself.
Poking around underneath the car tonight I found a wire dangling down in front of the block, near the water pump.
It is heavy gauge wire, maybe 25A & has a strange round connector with a waterproof seal on it. Following it back takes you to the loom alongside a multi plug going into the front of the bell housing.
Anyone any idea what it goes into? It's long enough to reach the alternator but I can't see anywhere to plug it into.
I would also be grateful for any problems to look out for.
Already planned is this
Replace thermostat housing, stat & rad cap.
Flush & refill coolant (was full of very rusty plain water! )
Replace very dirty air filter.
Oil & filter.
Check spark plugs.
Check very rusty front brake discs.
Tighten up handbrake.
