You would add around 2% nitrogen to argon when welding duplex, as Brad says it promotes austenite formation, you will also find it increases the heat of the weld pool without increasing your welding current so you can travel faster which brings the heat input down, another good thing when you’re welding duplex but I can’t see any benefit to using it on inconnel type materials
As said above we sometimes add oxygen to argon or argon/helium mixes for MIG and TiG welding ally (between 2 and 5 ppm) as it helps focus the arc but I wouldn’t have thought the amount was enough to reclassify the mix as active
