towing a trailer

big problem. I tow a trailer with my van and the vans wider than the trailer and I have no centre mirror and cant see the trailer its a pain to reverse as have to keep zigzagging in order to see where it is . anyone any idea what to use to stick out wider either side of trailer so I can see where it is wants to be flexible so it fits in to my garage without busting them

Ive got rid of mine but I had some long "flag" posts that I could see through the rear view. They were removeable.

tnx but van hasn't a centre mirror or back windows cant even see the old bill sneeking up on me

You can get them for a fraction of the price and have your own British touring van screen as you barge someone out of the roundabout

The camera is the answer but most are mounted on the licence plate you might need something raised up possibly using a wireless system mounted with magnets.

I can't weigh up why all of a sudden rear windows on cars are put so high up. I had Minis, Metros, Peugeot 106s and you could see out the back window no problem, rear side windows too, important when you have to reverse on single track roads because there is a car coming the other way. Now I have a Fiesta, and rearward vision is awful, can't see the trailer, and have to reverse on the mirrors on those single track roads as the rear and side windows are above hedge height. 90% of modern hatchbacks seem to have this stupid high window set up. Even the ones with a glass rear hatch have most of it blacked out, leaving a little oval to peer through.

My nipper has a camera facing the towball on his pickup. He had me fooled for a long time, there was me thinking how accurate he was at hitching up.
I suppose the ultimate would be the split screen stuff with one on the towball and one facing down the side of the trailer.

Towing mirrors, when you don't need them, can make the vehicle Illegal as the mirrors extend too far

the gaps I get through when passing vehicles is bad enough without extending them . it makes you grit your teeth and squint the near miss not going slow neither

I impressed myself last Sunday. Was driving a transit mini bus, had to fold the mirrors and get all the passengers to breath in to squeeze by a coach on a road that was sightly wider than a single track road!

So why not just reverse to a safe passing place and let the coach pass? can't understand why people do this
