The one pictured above is a replacement for a home made one, Landrover engine I believe. The original was steel and it rotted through internally, guy wanted the new one made of steel as well, crazy but .. well people are

2 of the bag full of cans I was given yesterday in appreciation of what was a brutally hot day moving fermentation vessels, (and pallets stacked high with cases of ale 
, strapped on to the back of a low-loader ), for the Rooster Brewery folk of Harrogate, and a nice gift of whisky from my BIL. Him and his OH came up from Sarf Landern yesterday for MIL’s funeral this afternoon, and he bought me the whisky as he felt a teensy bit embarrassed after necking vast quantities from my happy cupboard when they were up here a couple of weeks ago.
Not partaken of this one before, not being a great fan of the peaty varieties, but looking forward to trying this as its “unpeated”. Will probably raise a glass later today in memory of all those no longer with us.
Also acquired some new horns for my little Nissan van. The originals are embarrassingly weedy so an update is long overdue

Well you guys know how it is. I picked up my Manchester saw today..made arrangements to get the massive radial drill moved...but while I was there I brought....this fantastic leblonde lathe..a Bridgeport. And a few other bits..happy days I say.

I have bought many things in my life, but nothing beats the feeling of buying old machine tools, especially when you get them cheap. Lovely stuff indeed.

Look on bay of flea bay, gum tree and local second hand shops, antique canters and they do turn up.
The price is set not only by age and condition. But if they have been seen on one of the many TY shows, they the price gets silly.
Find out what you want and what you want it for, what you plane to do with it. Plus price of fixing it.
Then look on line for parts, I know of 2 places what are good for parts.
But some parts are as rear as hens teeth

When you re-wire it, check the data plate to see if it is double insulated.
If it is you will see no earth wire. But the capacitor what is in the handle is blown be careful. The correct rating is available, but they can be a big to big to fit.
If it has a earth connection, check that the whole body is at the same potential, you can one find a part may be live.

You talk to me as well if I’m intelligent enough to understand what you’re saying. Although I think I can translate it to wear thick rubber gloves and Wellington boots when using the shears and just to be on the safe side make sure my wife is stood next to the circuit breaker and I’ve not used her recently.
