Was at a Friends Garage today and down the back were an old Lathe and Drill his Father had for many years, both still work and connected to 3 Phase

Recently finished restoring a lovely old grinder like that. They’re extremely sturdy. Nice MEM Startet switch on that.

Big Brook motor beside it is good for a compressor, really tough.

You've be clearly done a good job and I have to appreciate the hard work that's gone in but I always think when I see old stuff like that painted in high gloss modern paint that it looks odd.

A bit like when a (cellulose era) classic car gets painted with 2k.

Though i'm pretty sure @brightspark just did it so he can tell people about his "big blue donkey saw".

Painting choice is a nightmare. My big Harrison lathe didn't really have a paint. Well it did but not a lot left of it. So I did my best to kind of match it.

yup along with tins of silver and gold,c cant really bring myself to paint any thing gold

Maybe if I get something worth painting I'll do so but until then as long as they are clean and maintained I'm happy.

reason I paint my stuff is to stop it going rusty and easily cleaned down otherwise I wouldn't bother , there workhorses so not fussed on quality of paint job

I'm considering painting my rapidor but that's mostly to try and hide my abomination of a single phase conversion.
