Can anyone recommend a crimping tool for Tyco Econoseal connectors?

I was replacing some tyco plugs on my Landrover Defender and struggled crimping the small tyco connectors onto the cables (as I did not have the proper tool). These are what i use and i've fitted lots of different terminsls between wiring repairs and upfitting. They're not a single step process like the Durite crimpers bit have always given me perfect results.

I have a set where they have round dies for crimping the rubber seal but can't seem to find those right now. Will keep looking and put up a pic of mine later.

I like the ratchet crimpers, the higher the price the nicer they are but I use an ebay cheapy, it works absolutely fine for the small amount I do.

The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have the colour coded dots on it....but really that's being picky.

I certainly didn't pay 60 quid for them though as that's more than the Durite ratchet set. I seem to remember getting them off eBay US for about 15 quid.

I have used a normal non-insulated ratchet crimp before but one thing that isn't always obvious if you've not used the Econoseals before is the fact you actually crimp the rubber bung into the terminal as well and the proper tool makes allowance for that.

I think the first ones you linked may well be just standard non insulated crimp tool and not specifically for Econoseal

It's another one of classic things where you may use it a handful of time in your life but you will be happy you had the right tool. Often it can be an anticlimax because the right tool make the job so easy it's all done in seconds.

The finished superseal crimps on the old looms I've laying about are rectangular and 2mm x 1mm

You could very well be right, I can't see the other side of the jaws.
I was hoping to get a set what would crimp un-insulated spades and the superseal types.
I don't know if they are one shot, but as I won't do many, if it was a two stage operation I could live with that but I don't want to have to get another tool if it doesn't work.
Could live with getting another set of jaws though.

Lack of info or recommendations is what's holding me back from ordering them.

They won't do automotive-type multiplug terminals like SuperSeal or Jr PowerTimer. They're for uninsulated crimp terminals like the normal 6.3mm spade type. None of those jaws are much use for automotive unless you're doing upfitting with common terminsls.

The only one that wouldn't be that common on vehicles it BNG hex one, all the others are. If you are working on older vehicle they all have uninsulated terminals. Un-insulated come in many shapes and sizes from bullets to spades and rings. The uninsulated crimps will do the Econoseal type but not as well as the right tool

That's what I use for non-insulated crimps. I've done a few complete looms for classics or kits with them and had no problems.

I've found with ratchet sets that the cheapanese ones often don't pull the jaws together tight enough and it's abit of a lottery as to whether the adjustment will go far enough. If you're dead set on ratchet ones get a decent quality set.
