Tungsten Grinding - Bench Grinder

Ok i took some macro photos of my 1.6mm Ceriated tungsten. It looks that the perimeters edge of the pointed nose is chipped-jagged. Does this affect Arcs performance ?
I used 80 grit band. And it looks like that i have to use much finer grit.
EDIT. It looks like i have to point the nose to absolute point and then grind my flat ! How do you grind your tungsten ? IS there a problem if i use a stone that has grind some other material on it ? (in theory there is problem, but anyone to verify it in practice ?)

need a finer wheel mate. use the side of the wheel, just 1 side or better still get a new stone as there only a few quid and use it only for tunnys

I bought this Guy for 50 Quid plus 2 Quid per sand band and 3 quid a finer stone !

something like a 240 grit after its been on the stone should be ok. i can see a 100grit 120 and the one on the grinder looks like a 60 grit? whats the other one?
may i ask where you got it from? looks a good piece of kit. the belt side would come in handy as a linisher, what wattage is the motor?

Unforunately i am in Greece so i bought it from a local Supermarket style-Tool Store. The stone on the machine is 36grit and the belt is somewhere at 80 or coarser. The motor is only 200watts but it does the job of not exceeding the stones angular speed. I bought three sand bands to test 80,100, and 120. It didnt have any finer.
Only drawback of the machine is that the belts left right tilt setting is somewhat unstable but it works now like a charm.

put the 120 grit belt on and get an old tungsten and try to wear the belt down a bit. should be fine after that, take a pic of one done from the 120 grit now as it might be ok.
the tiny grooves help the arc to pass through the rod faster and also stabilises it at the same time.
i didnt see that you was in greece.
200w motor should be ok for diy usage etc

You can get them from MM or Aldi have had them in.

£25 from aldi last time around ,does the job ,more powerful motor would be nice...Gav

Got mine from Screwfix about four years ago. Still going strong. Belts from them too.
