Help identifying an Arbor Press

Collected this Ebay purchase today.
It was a steal at £35.

It has a Jones and Shipman tag that I was given with it but it doesn't look like it goes with the press.

The Press has two tagged riveted on, one which says "Ministry or Supply Property of H M Government"
And the other says "SG 1835".

Interestingly I spotted this one on Ebay, looks the same but has J & S cast into it.

I did think that when I saw your post.

Wonder if someone obliterated the casting name at some point of its life. Would have thought JAndS would have there name on display.
Or maybe was made during the war and frivolities were done away with

I know this is an old thread, but I think I have the same arbor press that I bought on eBay for £35. If two transactions make the market price, then that is it, although I like to think £35 was a bargain for mine too.
There is no stamped or cast-in name/initials on my press either, but there is a remnant of a sticker which is very similar in shape to the one that came with your press.


Could you please take a measurement (width and height) of the plate?

Ive got one of those, without the daisy wheeel.

It has a very stylised J&S cast into the side of the frame.
