in my work the mr secrets capitalise on that, retire then come back as a limited company offering a consultant service at top dollarKnowledge concentrated in one person is regarded as a Single Point of Failure in IT (and I'm sure it is in other disciplines), and can be an Audit failure. It's ironic then, that myself and another guy of similar age (able to retire now if we wanted) who between us support the mainframe network, have been badgering management for over 10 years to get some succession planning in place. It still hasn't happened and we're both less than 2 years away from retirement.
dont get me wrong its one way to make a lot of money but ethically it doesnt seem right
