Hard to tell. Looks to big for a grass snake to me but pictures are never easy.

Adders come in all sorts of patterns.

Leave well alone either way. They have it hard enough without us making it any worse.

over here, Frogland, if it has a pointy tail it's a grass snake if a stumpy rounded tail watch out..they won't kill u just make u feel rather ill......
my next home has scorpions as well but don't tell the wife......no joke......hahaha......

Aye probably is because instead of the pointy end looking at you it is the stumpy end and the stumpy end has fangs

No intention of doing anything to upset it (after i realised Ihad stood on it), I just wanted an ID so I could be aware if it was an adder with respect to potential bites with the horses/dogs.

Grass snakes are our largest snake, females can grow a good bit over a metre.

I’ve seen far more large adders than grass snakes

I would say Grass snake, the yellow band behind its head is the giveaway.
As for adder bites, heres a photo of my last dog Zip 24 hours after an adder bite, this was the second time in two years & he never learnt. Two years after this it happened again! The vet was most impressed.
