I was just about to make a new riving knife for this table saw, and I noticed the casting is missing a bit. I must need new specs, I was wondering why this saw only had one slot hence one bolt for the riving knife, now I know. The bolt is resting where the top slot should be, pretty obvious now
So the plan is as follows, trim up the casting a bit to get straight, square edges
then make something like this, dowelled into the cast on the left, then bolted down on the right, the casting will be tapped M4. Major forces are lateral and its not the only fixing as there is the slot below.
I was thinking of adding some weld/braze but I don't think its necessary. I have a suitable bit of 10mm plate. Before I start grinding and machining, any better ideas? I don't have tig, just mig and stick.
Cheers

In my defence, I was thinking of what to have for tea - curry is the answer.
My drills wouldn't touch it and I didn't have anything other than HSS under 4mm and the holes are 3.3mm. I got it in the end by drilling from the other side, which was fine, weird. I didn't have any long countersunk bolts but these look fine, if they catch on the underside of the top then I'll get some.
