Have I Kiled My DashCam?

I intended to plug it into my PC to review a recording but plugged into the rear camera port instead.

Now when I plug into the correct port it starts up and immediately shuts down and keeps cycling around that startup shutdown loop.

Google isn't helping.

Obviously I meant Killed as in dead, not Kiled as in I know not what.

Can you take the card out of it and read it in a card reader ?

Probably, but that wouldn't get the DashCam working normally again, which is the objective.

I had tunnel vision. I was focused on the fact I was using the lead I have always used to link the DashCam to the PC. I tried all the other USB ports on the PC. I checked the lead recharged my Dell Bluetooth headphones. So I assumed I had damaged the DashCam.

When SWMBO returned with the car I plugged the DashCam back in to the car and all was fine.

So I haven't killed it.

That's tomorrow's exercise as well as digging through the 'might be useful one day' box of leads to try an different one.

Sorry for delay - it took some time to find a different lead with the right plug.

Guess who recently purged the 'might be useful one day' box of miscellaneous leads.

Remove SD card and hold down the on/off button cured the problem.

Grr! Spoke too soon. It's gone back to looping on-off again.

Noticed it was very hot when I took it out of the mount in the car and the battery symbol is showing as fully depleted.

Back to square 1 as it is now out of warranty. This is a replacement for a predecessor which overheated and died, which was a replacement for the first one which wouldn't release the SD Card! The First one lasted one day before I returned it the day after purchase.

Thank you. That was to be my next port of call, but you have saved wear and tear on the finger I save especially for typing into Google.

Yes, I do know you can shout at her and she listens, but only on my phone- where I can't read the answer - or that box in the corner.

As I do not seem to have an issue when it is mounted in the car, I think I may need to investigate the issue of the internal battery display showing no charge, so I have it plugged into the mains wall wart to check if it will charge at all.

Maybe with a flat internal battery there is not sufficient power supplied through the connection to the PC?

Deep joy. I loathe this faff with incomplete development of 'cheap' electronics!
