cheap /small pots zink paint

done a bit of welding and its going to be outside it was galv before i had to remove it before welding so i want to replace it im assuming zinc paint is the go to stuff but its in a place that hard to spray as lots round there that will need masking off if i use a spray can can find them for 5/6 quid

but the paint in a tin seam to be very expensive what options do i have ?

Spray some spray paint into the lid of the spray can and then brush it on

Yes that was my first thought but out of a spray it's not that thick but possible

If the spray can is cheaper, just build it up in layers if you have the time.

Ive used the "No Nonsene" stuff from screw fix in the past, still going good after five years in the garden

If you want it to be nearly as good as the original hot dip galvanizing you're going to have to buy decent quality zinc paint like galvafroid. Not cheap but if you compare the weight of the tin compared to cheaper stuff there's no comparison, it is full of zinc & lasts for years.

I welded a mild steel bracket onto a hot galv yard gate 20 years ago & gave it 2 coats of galvafroid, it still hasn't rusted!
