Last part of a roller system I have been fitting to a boat was to make a rope keeper to retain the rope in the sheeves when a knot passes through them. When there is a lot of strain on the rope there isn't usually a need for the keeper but in shallow water the rope can have slack on it at times and without the keeper the rope can jump out of the sheeves.

A real round-tuit job, filling my shell damaged Record 643 vice with JB Weld. One more application to go, then this little thing is done. Such a shame it happened in the first place (I bought it like that!) as this is a top vice for the bench drill.

Unfortunately they do get abused. See a lot for sale with holes drilled everywhere.

It’s more a milling vice than drilling I think as there’s no hole for the drill to go. I have a monster machine vice on the way which will be better for the drill.

Finally got a bit time to make something with the horseshoes I received. Also it’s the first time the huts have been organised enough to allow me to sandblast the metal, cut the metal, and weld it, without having to drag stuff back and forth.

I know it’s a basic project, but it’s hopefully now the first of many.

Is it my inner child, or do they look a bit rude They are for hanging gun rigs on.

Here’s mine,only had it about 6 years.

We are graced with numerous hedgehogs possibly because we feed them, unfortunately the neighbours who also feed them had one fall into their pond and drowned. They now have it fenced off.
So this afternoon I made the hedgehog fence for our pond, quite how they climb the steps to get into the raised border is a mystery but better safe than sorry.
