I'm certain he was referring to the aluminium/steel "discussion" rather than your perfectly legitimate question.

I have some louvre tooling for the flypress if you need any more doing. probably 3-4 inch from memory. Maybe a bit bigger

Thank you very much for your kind offer, the problem I had was the louvres are 12”” long, finding someone to make them (at a reasonable price) was the issue (i had quotes of upto £500 prr side) Hopefully that problem is now behind me but again thanks for the offer.

He was in the merchant navy as a lad then joined the TA in the late 80’s

Nope but then again i know what works and what might work and what wont work. I did say "i would have". You know what i do when i dont know something especially when its got cost and time implications i get a guy in who has, watch and learn then add it to the data bank in my head.

I posed the question hoping for informed opinion from experienced people. For the most part that is what I received & what I have come to expect from the majority of members of this forum. However, as in most areas of life there are those who only want to be negative.

Ok i was hinting at a solution and staying away from the negative that is over half our members will have very little experience yet will still offer up advice. Thats no bad thing unless you follow it. Ifyour really stuck as long as its safe just test something see if its any use
