Don't some injector pumps have fibre etc rotary vanes, and a kit with metal vanes is available for some to let them handle a more viscous fuel?
If you got one of those normal house hold spray things - the hand opperated ones - and filled it up with water (or Dino diesel), it would probably give a good mist when you pump it.
Then fill it up with cold veg oil, and it probably won't give anywhere the same degree of atomisation.
The veg may or may not break the pump quicker. That's a sepperate issue entirely to the spray pattern.
Spray veg with a poor pattern and you're probably going to get unburnt fuel hitting the cylinder walls, gumming the rings, etc
My point is that you can talk about injector pumps all day, but that's not the only issue at stake.
I would not use it in a vp44 type pump as they are fragile and prone to failure when using thicker fluids as fuels. Its ok to use SVO on VE pumps like old 1990's audi a4/a6/passats with the 1.9 tdi AFN/AHH,AHU,AVG engines, transporter t4 1.9 Td, 2.5 Tdi ACV/AJT/AXG engines, Some fiats with the 2.0 td engines (Lucas pumps not as reliable as Bosch), old mercs with inline fuel pumps, etc. I wouldnt use it in anything CR as they are very susceptible to water contamination and lack of lubricity ! Twin tanks will slow down esterization (is that a word) of the veg oils so the Inj. pumps do last longer and prevents formation of varnish with prolonged use !
As knighty pointed, anything with bosch pumps and bosch nozzles will run fine on SVA, Lucas, Delphy pumps will fail eventually ! IDI injectors can handle SVO better than DI injectors although cold starts will be easier on starter motors with a DI engine and the general running of the engine in all regimes- put it simple- electronics do make them run better and smoother !

Does seem a little slower on veg, like more reluctant to pull as much as it normally does.
Will teach me to drive a little more economically though, might even turn the pump back down a little

With my old Land Rover I had a Kenlowe HotStart that used mains electricity to heat the coolant. It took around 30-45 minutes to get to normal operating temp depending on ambient temp. I have a RCD spur at bottom of stairs that powers a outdoor waterproof socket which then was connected to the Land Rover. It was a simple case of pressing the RCD button to switch on the Kenlowe when first getting up and by time dressed / breakfast, and ready to go out, the vehicle "ready to go" even in depth of winter on veg oil mix.But then heat it a little and spray it in your pump again and see. You only need a little heat in the engine and pump to warm the oil as it passes through to the injectors. Using veg for short trips is not good as it never gets warm (which is why i use more diesel in the week) but fine if you are going out for a run.
Never adjusted the timing on any of my diesels (VW, Peugeot, Land Rover, Transit) when running on veg oil as never noticed a difference in performance or power. Maybe I was lucky with my previous vehicles but will keep it in mind to experiment with if I ever feel the needVeg oil likes the timing advanced a bit just run it 50/50
