504 is too dirty.
505 is the correct colour, just not strong enough - which is easy enough to fix with a second coat.

Some where in storage I have a couple of my Dad's Yankee screwdrivers. The handles are wood and the colour is a flat red, just like dried blood; seriously.

I was just about to say for a Yankee screwdriver to be authentic, it needs a good coat of dry blood

The wax finish I have tried was Kiwi Ox Blood.

But I want a stain for the wood, before wx. Plus paint for a up coming project.

i have two others with wooden handles:
they are wood coloured...
