Worked out how to drain my Startrite bandsaw gearbox. Opened up the plugs and nothing - at first I thought it was dry. Then very very slowly this thick black/green gunk starts leaking out.
It is either 40 year old ep90 or they have used something like molyslip in there. It is definitely not normal gearbox type oil.
The saw was running really well and very quiet.
Do I flush it all out and put the proper oil in there or try and find some sort of liquid grease?
Wish I hadn't started now!
