Can you believe thousands of people are building their careers on this and the bs at CERN etc of the back of hard working EU citizens.

Having worked in science and academia for the last few years before retiring I feel like I can say with some conviction the large proportions of the science community are totally wasting tax payers money.

The image has opened up a lot of decussions on a lot of forums and in public.

I have listened to 2 people from vastly different sides of the community, religion and social standing (joy of MIS) having a wonderful debate on it. The Hob nobs were freely passed.

Odd, how something far away can bring people together.

First time I looked through a gurt big telescope and saw Saturn, I was lost for words, nay.... gobsmacked by it.

When I saw that picture of the black hole, it did the same thing.

This is a picture of something which only existed as a theory (and one that was originally ‘poo poo’d) up until not that many years ago.

It made my day.
