Hi.
I have an M20 (1.25mm thread pitch) magnetic sump bolt that I want to fit into a steel oil reservoir.
The reservoir is 6mm thick mild steel. I also have an m20 by 1.25mm tap. I have checked online to find the correct drill size to drill out for tapping but cant find the size I have. There is a guide for m20 with 1mm, 1.5mm and 2mm threads but nothing for 1.25mm. What would be the correct size for my application please if anyone knows-and i'm sure plenty will do!
I also intend to make a suitable nut to weld to the outside of the reservoir to drop the magnetic plug down somewhat from poking up into the reservoir too much. I have tried in vain to find an m20 nut with a 1.25mm thread pitch to buy. I know its an oddball size-has anyone an alternative eg drill out or re tap a larger nut so I don't have to make one?
Thanks in anticipation!
