I'd love to have one, but space is a big factor. I suppose I could make a bench-top one myself if I could source a ram [rather have that than a jack operating above the job , although that would do the job effectively]. Maybe one day......

You can get better press for less money than that Clarke one, this one for example has a better pump,

You can also get bench mounted one for not much money and secondhand ones come up pretty cheap too. Unless you have a need for specific dimensions or features then making one just isn't cost affective.

Space - that viscous circle of you accumulate stuff to fill all the space available - i have downsized to 4 motorbikes, one old car and a Landrover that is too big to fit in the 20 x 10 garage or 20x10 shed, I would like an old vertical mill, an old bigger toolroom lathe, a floor standing drill, a 2 post lift and a hydraulic press, but no room for any of them at present. When i think about it, most of the cars and bikes I like are from the 1940's to the 1970's, same with the tools i would like.

Ideally replace my 20 x 10 shed with a 20x20 workshop then i could fill it.

ACDC tig dont have a need for this mig and arc is enough already

That was straight out of the box. Can't fault the condition. No idea why someone drilled a hole through the E at the rear though. Was debating a link up to my donkey saw at one point to make it powered,

1.) Space, to use the machines and tools I shipped here from overseas after I retired, and are currently in storage. I've lost a year out of my life struggling with the anti-planning department to replace the unsafe one car garage we demolished with a simple one car replacement garage.

2.) I would like to acquire an AC/DC Tig Welder for future hobby work, when I have the space.

Haha. Best place for a photo after un boxing it.

Will eventually mount it on some angle plate so it can be easily screwed down and removed as needed.

There's the upgrade.

Sleepers notched to take 9x2 on edge braced diagonally in between the 9x2 cross braces. 9x2 on the flat as a top then covered in 18mm ply. Should take a few hits from the sledgehammer without complaint.

I felt that I couldn't impose on the local garage on a regular basis, so per post #12, I've just pulled the trigger on this for £85, 10-ton capacity which will be more than enough for my needs. I did multiple searches and couldn't find a better one - there were cheaper, but they were just that....cheap.....

The steel U channel will be either free or costing not a lot from local fabricators/stockists so I'm going to build my own bench-top job as I;ve no space for a full height one.

Yet another project on the list.....

I enjoy the odd woodworking task here and there. Some things I’d like to add are a table saw, a router table, dust extraction for my planer/thicknesser and maybe a sliding mitre or radial arm saw. Also I’d love a pillar drill and a morticer if the two could be combined but none of that’s going to happen until I reclaim my garage from the tide of kids bikes and garden machines.

I’ve got the router, and I do plan to make the table. Trend do an insert plate with lift mechanism. Would just need a fence then.

Yes, they can be combined. I have a morticing attachment which uses a drill bit within a 1/2" square chisel. Haven't used it in many years, but I believe it was made by Rockwell.
