I used my new drill in anger today, doesn't seem to have the oomph of my Makita 18v NiCad drills but it is smaller and lighter which is good, it also runs very smoothly with little vibration. Still happy.

they look quite good for diy and price .just have to spend big money for something that is powerful and going to get hammered and used daily

I always look at the torque on battery drills or the wattage on powered tools in relation to price

It ain't though. Green = Domestic. Blue = Pro.
Several tiers of professional though
Someone fitting blinds all day does not need the same kit as someone fitting field gates all day
But for the higher end moddels they are alot heavier I have the biggest Makita and really need to go and buy something smaller as holding it over your head all day is impossible

They are advertised at the entry level for the professional range but still a good step up from their green range, and the batteries fit all the other pro range stuff too(the green batteries and chargers are not compatible).
Their higher end models feature all metal chucks, chunkier casings etc at the expense of extra weight and obviously cost.

the wife bought me a poxy Macalister drill driver and a multitool 
dunno why when I have the most powerfull dewalt stuff its actually not bad and a lot lighter for screwing stuff on ceilings

I've just killed my macalister cordless drill and to be honest its been fantastic.I think I bought it about 10 years ago for £100 and I've abused it eversince, wire brushes so side loading the bearings , bit of wiggling when my drill bit isn't large enough, those weird cheap file bits, 120mm hole cutters.Only thing wrong with it is the batteries are now dead.
Only just seen this. I wonder if there will be any left in stock in my area?
Mind you I don't think Bosch are all they are cracked up to be. I bought a slightly larger Bosch pro drill last year. It was really good - very powerful - but after not much use there is a huge amount of slop in the chuck/gearbox. You can turn the chuck by hand about a quarter of a turn either way before it locks. It still works fine for drilling and screwing things in but can't remove screws any more. Should have sent it back but never got around to it.
