I've read up on this before, advice from solicitors... you're not going to get off with it, and trying will just **** people off, so phone/write back and point out the mistake, wait for a new letter from them
if you don't reply to a speed camera latter it's an automatic 6 points... guess it might be the same for this?
I agree just try and do the best possible for your own outcome.
That is what got recommended to me for my little incident with speed a few years back.
But I didn't have a choice back then it was go directly to court, do not pass go, do not collect £200.
If you can get away with a speed awareness course then bonus but more than likely points at 88mph. (3 maybe 6 if they 're feeling harsh)
Only advice I can say is just put your hands up to being guilty straight away. Makes them appreciate the way your not trying to fight the system and this is what helped me keep my licence (after a short term ban) rather than a longer ban and possible licence removal.
