had another doorstep seller round earlier. they come with a big black bag tap on door thrust an id badge in your face and say im a reformed offender and got an apprenticeship and selling goods till I get on the course . yea rito. its all tat from the pound shop selling at exorbitant rate I say no thanks and close the door in there face . the time before I talked and it got nasty .don't entertain them its one big con there is no such course

They come round to us periodically, last one lost his temper when I refused to buy or look at his junk, tea towels at a tenner! Reared up on his hind legs & reckoned I was verbally abusing him. In truth I was polite to him, mentally though I was thinking sod off!

One of them got snarling angry when I wouldn't buy his stuff, I had to see him off, but he was not happy.

they are threatening for kids and old folk, and the gov should do a publicity campaign to make it clear that it is fraud, and probably 'casing the joint'.
Needs to get mentioned on the telly etc to make it clear.

Door knockers should be treated just the same as cold callers on the phone, We have a sign up saying no buying or selling is done at the door.

Had one round here, saying he was ex forces, and needed to sell this stuff for something or another.
Same treatment some of the charity collectors get on my doorstep... They get it shut in their face.

what happened was the wifey stupidly bought stuff of one and before u knew it half the crooks round the aria latched on and came round I just went to door and said no thanks and instantly shut the door on them before they had chance to speak . it soon stopped

Apparently they get driven round in a minibus, they buy a bag of goods from the ringleader to sell on.

Charities are no better, one I sent packing came back after I'd gone to work and the mrs signed up.

Rather than wait and just cancelling the direct debit she phoned the bank and told them she was intimidated into signing up, I also started a high level complaint and got a proper grovelling apology letter

I tell them all I'm not interested, I don't go knocking for business, it's not a proper way to do it

A respectable cancer local hospice had one of their people come to my door last year, asking for donations. I was prepared to contribute as I know the place well, my ex wife has worked there before, but this guy only wanted the last four digits of my debit card...... he could do everything else from that.

So, I went up to the head office next day, asked them what it was all about and after several phone calls they did indeed confirm that was their guy, and yes, that is how they arrange regular donations: credit card numbers taken on the door step.

Not from me they don't!

There’s a big effort to reduce our plastic use then you get charities putting probably millions of plastic bags in plastic wrappers through peoples letterboxes that most of end up in the bin (not used as a bin liner).

For several years, we had a Sally Army collection bag pushed through the door about once a fortnight saying they would be back to collect it in a couple of days. Never once did they return, fitted the dustbin just right though.

Same applies to these charity xmas cards supposedly done by disabled artists, etc. For no reason whatsoever a particular foot-artist charity started sending me packs of cards.
Some of them were actually ok, but the terms of the 'donation' required were a bit much, so I used three or four out of the pack, sent some cash as payment for those ones and told them I'd be binning the rest if they didn't come and collect them. Since I never heard from them until the next batch of cards arrived, I found the enclosed envelopes useful. This went on for a few years then they suddenly stopped for some reason.

daughter works away 2 weeks on 2 off and comes home to a horde of charity bags .. as said good for the pedal bin. when charity workers come round our house and ask for£ 20. 00 I say no .. do you want to know why I wont . because since when do you tell donators how much they have to give. I might have given a fiver but I wont now on principal
