20mm road plate

Just at the idea stage at the moment, but looking for two pieces of roughly 20mm mild steel plate, about 1700mm x900mm. Thought crossed my mind that road plates might be an option. Anybody ever repurposed any? Or are the too bent, buckled and scratched to bother with? Any suggestions ? Source of reasonably priced plate 20mm or thicker?

what are you using them for?

i use 12mm (1/2in perhaps) road plate for my welding bench.
my pieces are flame cut (badly!) to about 30in square.
theyre reasonably flat, and only one piece has bulldozer track marks - on one side.
theyr'e usually used to cover trenches for normal road vehicles, so dont get badly dinged.
a buzz over with a flap disk brings them up nice enough for my uses.

Will use them as a base on a press tool. Cannot go thinner ,rather thicker

Yup. I repurposed 25mm road plate to make a quick hitch head unit for a flail mower that could be used on either the owners 360 or 180 machine with 3 pin attachment
