Three blokes stood at a till last night, (I was one of them), & the one bloke who had a bunch of flowers was youngish. The two older blokes had none. The other bloke also commented that the young bloke wouldn't be bothering with flowers in a few years time. Who says romance is dead.

Had an accidental Valentine thingy to day ..

I've been retired since 4 Sept 1995 so you can guess every day is a holiday .. numbers against days mean little as do names for days . I'm down to is it warm , windy , wet or a combination of them these days .
So you can imagine my surprise when my wife said , " It's a lovely day lets go for drive and see if we can get that de soldering braid you were talking about . So off we went on a 14 mile run to the place where I might find it .
Sat at some traffic light waiting for green, Alison said, "It's one o'clock do you fancy seeing if the steak house is busy ?
" Ok. Sweetheart " , turn left just after the lights .. it's showing a part filled carpark at 13.00hrs ..
Had a lovely unhurried meal with Alison …. served up by a vivacious friendly horse riding gal who we've become friends with over the years .

Found the place where solder wick might be found , " Halfords" .." No such stuff Sir " .
Went across the road to " Range " no wick but came away with a decent pointed soldering iron & some resin flux . . Took a few more steps in the same store and saw a big gnarly chunk of Indian rosewood root that is normally submerged in a big fish tank as a feature piece. Thought ... Hmm , If I bore a hole there and grind that there & make a new hole there then it will make a fantastic device for Alison to grow a decent Bonsai display in .

I tried picking it up , found it way too heavy to carry if your on ctutches like me .. so I told Al , " If you would like it as a little unwrapped present you'll have to carry it to the tills . Her face was beaming .

Think I'm now on top of the , " cooperation list" tonight or tomorrow .

Had a busy day and my missus was in bed when I got in. Iv got tomorrow off so will see how she likes her card, flowers and necklace...

We had a tabkenleave mid service.... they had a row lol I thought it was great as we had skate wing and and chateau briof to share in the kitchen, shame they didn’t order a bottle of wine

Forgot to say this in last nights post .


We saw some embarrassed looking portly gents , still in work clothes by the look of their shoes in the 24 hr Tesco at about 19.30 hrs . Each with a sorry looking bundle of a dozen well past their best dark red roses and a box of Roses or a bottle of fizzy pink plonk . They all looked as tired and worn as the roses ….my lass smiled to me and when we were out in the car bust out laughing & said …

" I bet they've either been at the pub and someone has told them it's Valentines day or their ears got bent when they first went home without anything or they have brought half price clearance rubbish. Don't ever sneak out and buy me stuff that's only fit for the compost heap , it's worse then getting nothing " .
