Yer course it can, what are you painting?
any reason for oil under coat ?
On MDF pay attention to the edges they need a sand/rub with say 240G etc between coats otherwise it'll raise and look yukThe undercoat was just a bog standard, (non water based), affair.
i must admit i hated painting with oil based on wood paint then wait an age for it to go off and on with the 2nd coat and at the end it looks good but what seams to be a couple of years then starts to yellow
water based on wood paint by the time you paint the skirting door frame and door the first lots dry and time for the 2nd coat
the main down side is the amount of coats it needs 2 or 3 under coats water and then 2 top coats water
but i helped paint a mates hall way 8 years ago the banister way looking a bit worse for ware a few months ago i was doing the bedroom and they said can you have a look at the banister so it was only a wash with suger soap to get the dirt off dry and paint the top banister rail you could hardly see the differance

Trick with foam rollers wet it up and dont work it to hard
I still think i get a better finish with my old purdy brushes than roller![]()
and cost us all a bloody packet replacing rotten timber so how does that workAll oil based paints will be phased out soon, save the planet and all that![]()
yea water baser acrylics great but not on outdoor timberI prefer the water based ones nowadays. Okay they dont cover quite as well, but can do a few thinner coats in half the time.
Ive painted a good few bits of funiture, I literally slap it on with a big brush, then just roll it out to get it even.
