Locked door, key (single, not a bunch) into empty pocket, walked the dog, came back door will not unlock - broken key. Only pure luck that it was not a major operation to get back in. Now have to get all the keys re-cut. Lock is 3 months old.

Quality of ironmongery has been in steady decline for the last 15 years.

Had a bunch of tubular latches last week that had the face plates welded on off center so the plate was right on the edge of the door. Lots of cursing that day.

+1 I sourced the internal doors for our current house, decent solid quality ones - a fair few £k's worth. The builders carpenter fitted them with his ironmongery supposedly of a complimentary spec but its terrible quality all the handles are tarnishing where they are grabbed, hinge barrels don't mate properly with each other and 2 of the floor stops snapped clean in half. The older part of the house has original gear from 1930's - its beautiful and still going strong.

I had to heat the pins up and straighten them on a set of band and hook hinges...diabolical quality

Aye. Double the cost for decent ironmongery.
Eurospec make good gear still easi-t latches are all I want to fit but gaurentee customer thinks I'm pulling a fast one on prices.
Keep a good and a crap in the van now and pull them both out.

yea i do the same thing with a choice of about a dozen type of roofing felts...let them fondle it and pick

I welded a Chubb 5 lever lock into my siide gate...using "never to come out" welding...it started being temperamental after a couple of months and now takes me about 10 minutes to open every time...gonna be a right pain to "unweld" it
