GOOD torch recomendations

I’m in need of a high quality torch, I’ve had the usual Maglights from tiny to massive, led conversions but I want rechargeable these days

I even have a very spendy HID torch but led tech has improved since the days I bought that

It needs to be tough, bright, rechargeable, ideally waterproof and a good size in the hand, not tiny and not massive

Don’t mind paying for quality but I am from Yorkshire

LED lenser runs on rechargeable batteries or disposable Quite waterproof, intersity adust is a dial and its been through three years of hell on winter beaches and saltmarsh plus genral work duty etc

I've just purchased a small "Trend" torch there a couple of others in the range, I'm impressed so far seems to last all day for me , but that'll depend on your usage.

Lidl have a some LED torches in at the moment. Work of a single AAA battery. All metal construction, small, light and appear quite robust. At £3 each I bought three.

Used one on the walk back from the pub last night. well impressed with how bright it is

What are you intending on using it for?

The two "torches" I use are actually an old bike light (made by Moon if I remember correctly). It wasn't cheap (circa £80) but then I needed a decent front light for cycling cross country back from work in the dark. That will light up half of a rugby pitch comfortably which is impressive considering its less than 4" long and an inch in diameter and just charged off a USB cable. Will last a few hours on full brightness and exponentially longer when you turn the brightness down.

The other really isn't a torch but one of Milwaukee's flood lights, serious light output and decent battery life. One 5Ah battery saw me thought about 8h of engine swap over at @8obs.

Another vote for something from LED Lenser... you do pay for them but by 'eck they're good. I was first given an LED Lenser torch about fifteen years ago and I still have it, although the led technology within is very much old-hat by now.

A few months ago I bought an LED Lenser head torch for walking the dogs and it is very well-designed and I'm astounded by how long the battery lasts between charges. Blows the Hope mountain biking lights I previously used well out of the water... it came with a wee freebie torch and even that it is superb.

If you want to blow any LED Lenser out of the water then this is pretty impressive, I know it all adds up but it’s great value for what you get...

Thatll be a tad extreme under a floor. But if you want waterproof tactical torch is the way to go.

So exactly the same as me except swap under floors for under the Land Rover and then a little bit of stalking through Scottish peat bogs to boot.

not rechargeable but bought one of these 3 months ago been great i got an older snapon recharageable light led its good but the light from this one beats the snapon light by quite away

and add in they aways run out when you need them 2 aa battery as spares get you going again

Rofis R series torches are very versatile, what with the USB charging, headband, magnetic tail and rotating head, makes them suitable for many situations,...I went with the R2 in the end because it would also run on an AA battery if need be.

I've got several Nitecore torches, which I'm very pleased with.
I do agree re. the Q8, for the money it is excellent (better this than an overpriced LED lenser - yes I do have a couple). Also look at Sofirn who make the Q8 amongst other torches.

Not sure if you already have any but i wouldn't be without an assortment of small LED rechargeable floodlights.
Unless its an outside job in full daylight i always pick up at least 1.
Small lightweight and very long time between charges.
Now I only use two torches a small ring LED that you can clip to your overalls, ( someone from this site recommended) and a bigger Nightsearcher.

I deliberately dropped my Maglite in a water tank due to access it was the only way I could get any light to see the ball valve I was changing, fished it out when I was done.
