Ive been reading up on making a knife for a while now so decided to have a go this weekend.
Ive gone for the stock removal method which is the easiest as a starter option.
Started with a Farriers rasp that I annealed then set about filling the bevel
Made this jig, shamelessly copied from the Internet but changed it all to metal. It's 60x60x3 box section welded into a T shape. Drilled and tapped M10 holes for the file guide and made the lock nut on the lathe. Drilled and tapped two rows of M6 holes to act as back stop and Ricaso guide. Two rows are to accommodate different sizes of knife. Also made the simple clamp and bar to hold the file. works an absolute treat apart from the file which is a pile of rubbish
