And the last time I did any actual gas brazing was nearly 30 years ago, too.
It's not great, and the actual first one was terrible, but the second was better.
I'll plug away at it and get more practice in.
I had no specialised flux, so just used some borax powder mixed into a paste with water. The rod was Sifbronze C1.
Now, the surprising thing is, the flame produced was actually quite narrow, so that was probably a lucky combination of arc gap and current settings on the buzz-box, around 90A.
Just a cheap old 140A arc box from the 70s, same as thousands that were sold at the time.
What made a huge difference compared to the last time, was the use of an auto-dark helmet.
Just something quick and dirty to get my hand and eye in and I've been meaning to fasten chains to these bolts for the last couple of years.
