Just got the Christmas pressie from my eldest lad up and running.


I made a stand for it a couple of weeks ago and finally got some media for it today (I say I did, what I actually mean is I persuaded Mrs D to go into town and pick some up for me!)

Only downside is the need to regularly give the bottom a good whack to get the media to drop down to the pick up. I expect I need a lilttle more media putting in.

Here's a before and after.


Anyway, great tool, should have got one years ago.

Been eyeing one up for a while, as I like to remove the rust from parts before reassembling them on vehicles.

I’d got plans to build one, but that “time” thing keeps cropping up, or disappearing!

The media feed, the light, the leaking lid, all normal problems with this model. Don't breathe the media dust in, it makes you feel quite ill. Rig up a cyclone dust extractor if you can. See YouTube for ideas. make sure you use the plastic films to protect the door glass. I'm going to try some mods on my feed as I get fed up kicking it.

Mine needs a belt too. I think they've made them too shallow so it will sit on a bench nicely. I keep meaning to open the base up and make it a bit steeper..

You might try a motor with a off balance bit to help the media drop to the bottom.

got fed up with changing the glass......tried plastic covering for the glass still don't last long.......
so now just poke me arms in under lid (with gloves on) what grit comes out, who cares......this sander box is on wheels so use it outside.....
just lift the lid occaisionally to see where I'm going, after a while u get used to not seeing......
will be putting a skirt on it so that the 11watt curley wurly bulb keeps the media dry.......
my box seems to be quite deep and well angled sides so just over fill a tad.....stored uder a lean too.........just need more room ...hahaha

You can see in the top pic that I have a dust extractor which resolves most issues, that light is rubbish though!

Had that problem. I bought some cheap cob drl lights and have mounted them around the inside of the case pointing down. It has greatly increased the light inside the case but not sure how durable they will be.

I've just been doing a bit of searching and 6 of those lights can be had for less than a tenner but a power supply is the best part of £60! What have you done regarding power?

I have a Ctek battery charger which has a power supply option so used that. Other than that was going to use a server power supply. Plenty of cheap ones on eBay but need to check which ones can be enabled easily.

stick one of these in as well as the original one not much room in those small cabinets https://www.screwfix.com/c/electrical-lighting/inspection-lamps/cat4780006 and wrap a bit of cellophane round it to stop it getting blasted then chuck it and put a new piece over when it does
