Car insurance @ 25

Mrs has just been a bought new car (well used but new to us) a 2011 A1 SLINE 185PS.

Trying to get insurance in order to pick up tomorrow.

Was expecting quotes to be a bit more being a bit sportier.

Just came back at £1200!

Anyone got any tips?

25 years old. 3 years no claims. Had a small accident in her fiesta three years ago which they wrote off (only needed bumper, cross bar and an inlet manifold).

That’s via compare the meerkat.

We usually use aviva and current policy is with them so we will call them tomorrow.

I wondered if postcode is doing it. Romford post code.

Perhaps some bollards on the drive.

For someone who's still young, no garage and fairly close to London, I didn't think that sounded too bad to be honest.

Don't think Romford would help tbh.
But lots of other things make up the calculations like annual mileage, garage, drive or road parking, alarms etc.
Well worth calling the ones you're with, I got the wifes reduced on what they sent through the post as said I was walking away, they did better than the cheapest on line one to keep us.

3 years NC is not to be sniffed at either

ring around different companies and quote one against the other, i found it a good £300 cheaper this way albeit time consuming.
anything audi s line is stolen frequently at the moment so i expect that they will be expensive to insure and become increasingly so as time goes on.
if you can store it in a garage it will bring the costs down

My mates son got a mad quote and ended up insuring with a compay called something like Insure the box.. they fit a tracker and then my mate could see he was driving nice.

Someone told me not to ever consider having one of those types of boxes/monitoring systems fitted because the insurance companies will always use the data to increase next years premium,...I dunno how true that is, I just know that you can't trust them.

That is a lot but it’s quite a car and her history will definitely go against her.
Regardless of how minor the accident was, in the eyes of an insurance company it still makes her a higher risk, even if it hadn’t been her fault.

Doesn’t even matter if it wasn’t your fault. Insurance told me that the fact someone had driven into me made me a higher risk. How that one works out I’ll never know. I just treat insurance quotes as a random number generator now

They might not suggest it but most give good discounts for it. Companies fit them to thier fleets

Do you think so? I am in London and got a quote on a S5 last Autumn, it would have been less to insure than my Merc Vito, in the end I hummed and ared too long and some one else bought it, shame because it was a very nice example of one of the last v8 S5s manual box too.

You could try,and sometimes this works,insure it in your name and you put her as an insured driver,worth a try

Mine went down best part of £100 (approx 25%) when I moved 4 miles.

Have you tried adding yourself, as an experienced driver, to the policy as well as SWMBO? Very often it can result in a reduced premium, paradoxically.
