Bargain or what!!
That’s what I thought.
Bargain or what!!
Bought a Jones sewing machine for £40 looks immaculate. Got it from Inverness so my brother in law picked it up for me. Same as this model: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jones-He...660402?hash=item3d7ec22f72:g:s34AAOSwUP5cMLBV
Hopefully a good starting machine to learn on, look nice if nothing else.
Very nice Jones domestic, and it will cope with lots, but the seller calling it a heavy duty semi industrial is pushing it to say the least. At least it’s been properly serviced, and got everything to get you started.
Not trying to burst your bubble, but these sellers who claim a domestic machine can do the job of an industrial one annoys me.
Apart from that, a lovely machine to start on.
At £40 it was a good buy and will be useful for lighter work. That having been said, I seldom use my domestic as the big one seems to do everything I need and I don't bother repairing the rips in my lacy knickers.
Send them over, I can use them to learn on.
I need to get it down from Inverness now.
You must be joking, have you seen the prices that non laundered secondhand ones fetch?
I'm going to be in town soon and could pick it up, but that'd be heading in the wrong direction for you. Unless you want to organise a Courier uplift?
You're 2 weeks too late, I was in the Broch at Christmas.....
It’s amazing what you boys buy. I thought you’d be spending your money on tools, machinary, that type of thing.
But knickers.......
Have you tried M & S?
Sold my Singer 306K for twice what I paid an took on the 1905 Treadle Model 66 that my Grandmother bought. Not as fancy in terms of what it can do and isn't able to take an electric motor. Just been edging the new bits for this wheel.
You can see where a century of use has worn away the markings in front of the foot.
I could do with finding a later version of this model that takes feet that clamp to the side rather than to the back, as this one does.
