Hey guys anyone on here ever used one of these

Would be transporting some skis i have never put anything other than a roof box on a roof rack before so any one know how to secure them to it. Plus will be doing this in france on a hire car as going to the alps so any one know of anything i would need to bring apart from spare bulb kit breathalizers and reflective vests.

Not used, but it looks like quite a good idea for short get you home from b&q journeys. I can see a couple of problems (other than a puncture) they aren't very aerodynamic so I wonder how they cope with speed but the bigger problem for me would be how do you fasten down what ever it is your carrying?

That is my question to it says there are some d rings on it but surely you want a more secure point than that.

Are you hiring here or in France? If the latter, won't it come with all you need on board?

I read on another forum about some kind of pass you can buy in advance and fix inside the windscreen, which makes passing through tolls much easier [no stopping iirc as it's read 'on the hoof'] and cheaper? That'd depend on your route, of course.....

Double edit: I'd not want to trust much to the rack, and I especially wouldn't want to be driving behind 'Brain of Britain' with the garden seat on top of his car, on them.....

Im hiring my mate and girlfriend are both hiring but her brother is coming and to be awkward is bringing his own skis. Not hiring anything larger than a golf so im sure 4 people 3 of which are tall guys plus a pair of skis for a 6 foot tall bolke are not going to fit inside.

Yes thanks for reminding me about looking for the toll passes im going from geneva to corchevel.

Its an avis hire car and im not sure if thier cars come with roof bars or not.

Some of the cars have a centre drop down piece in the middle of the seats so you can get long items, ski’s & such in, see if any of the hire cars have this.

Yes i think the golf has or my 2010 golf did, only issue would be i have selected a manual car and this will be my first time driving in europe on the worng side of the car and road so i really dont want anything else distracting me or getting in my way.
