@Maker Just curious.... won't the voltage drop / signal loss in that length of cable become noticeable over that distance?
(Aside from that, nicely done!)
If it is straight off the cartridge, no chance but if it is pre amped in the turntable to line level you will be fine.I have no idea, hopefully the amp will sort it. If not, I've seen turntable preamps on eBay, maybe it needs one?
Yes try it you might be lucky or your Nan might not notice all the background noise from the amp being wound up to elevenThere's nothing inside it.I'll try it just in case but it'll have to be an eBay cheapie. I wish I'd known it needed that before I cut the old cable off.
Oh well, I suppose I could take the circuit board out and tuck it away inside, power it off the 9v input I've just soldered in rather than use a silly battery too.
I expect you will need to go into one of the line inputs CD / Tape something at a higher level than the usual turntable input else it will be very loud.It works! Amp turned all the way up though, it's fine if you're in the living room with it but she wants to hear it from the kitchen so a preamp is on the way.
Drum roll please... first project using my new TIG welder; b
Great job @Tangledfeet, told you you would really like TIG,
Great first effort and waay better than it needs to be for the application.
I think it's important to realise we can't all be "welding gods" like @richard and @Brad93 and lots of others on here (that takes 10,000 hours of practice) but you can get a perfectly serviceable weld that will never break if you set out to do the best you can.
Well done and it only gets easier..
