Hi all!!
For Christmas present I decided to upgrade my Lincoln V160-T DC TIG to a AC/DC digital unit from R-tech - as I wanted the capability of welding aluminium.
So far so good, beautiful piece of kit...
Getting to grips with using a pedal has been interesting! I have a pedal for my Lincoln but never really used it.
Anyway... I wonder if someone can advice on this.
I have been playing around and so far I got to the stage where I'm finding it fairly straight forward to lay some neat beads - some photos below.
This has been done on ally tube, about 2mm thick or thereabouts.
The guy I bought the welder from gave me a load of ally sheet and this tubing, so I have been practicing on.
Although i'm ok laying these beads on the tube, when I tried to do anything on the ally sheet he gave me, I just cant get anything done. It seems like the cleaning function is not enough?
I cannot get the shinny melted pool.. and I have tried playing with the balance, almost to 50/50 and still get a load of dirt just forming.
could this be the ally is just really bad quality?
thanks!
JP
