Old truck rescue

A lot of the older British trucks use the same running gear as the yanks, my snotty old butt ugly Foden has the same Rockwell double drive axles and non synchro Eaton/Fuller 13 speed Road Ranger gearbox as the Peterbilt. Aesthetically challenged maybe but thanks to the running gear a bomb proof truck that will pull anything and go anywhere

Foden as are Seddon Atkinson / Dennis are good for two thing only , using as bin wagons or fire engines .

I disagree, @HopefullySoon , the 'Mickey mouse's foden are a thing of beauty. Admittedly I've never driven one. I love 1960's trucks!

They drive great especially with a good twin splitter, Its the "drivers" that are the problem

I think they may be literally the same family, Edwin Foden was Foden trucks and his son Edwin Richard Foden was ERF trucks?.

Eaton Fuller twin splitter, glorious box. Fastest changing box on the road if you can handle it gear pattern diagram that looks like it was designed by a madman.

Perkins 410tx, originally a Rolls engine that Perkins took over ,no electronics on this old dog Dan. Have to pull a stop cable to kill it, when was the last time anyone drove or saw anything with a pull stop ?

Quite right Woody, no creature comforts in this truck or twin splitter but once you have mastered doubling the clutch up and down the box it really is not an issue. Trouble is I find myself doing this in everything by habit
