Pu all the way if it wasnt possible to use mechanical
Sikaflex is said to be the best for things you never wish to remove by many
Epoxy really needs some form of mechanical secondary between the two (metal and wood)
There is something different in alder isnt there , is it toxic sap or something else ? I would be something i should check out anyway before working with it as memory aint my best point

Something like Sikaflex 221...its a PU glue, so not as rubbery. I guess it wouldn't have such a dampening effect as a mire flexible one such as 291.

On a side note, a guitar made from 12gauge will be a lot different from a guitar made from 1.2mm...

It's prone to moisture uptake, but then most solid body guitar woods are apart from mahogany, hence the need for stable storage temps, I maybe end up going for Ash or light Ash if I was thinking of a weight saving.

Found Sika not that good on metal 3M panel bond is, CT1 supposed to be ok wood to metal all have good tech support though.
We use Lord for metal to metal

The other thing is expansion\contraction rates & any hard set adhesive

Il offercontact adhesive again. Firm bond but should still allow the wood to expand and contract slightly.

Used in the past to inset metal trims in oak.
