I always thought the term "car" to be incorrect, it's a jet engine on wheels. It should only be described as a car if the engine drives the wheels that propel the vehicle IMHO.

As daft as spending money on record attempts is, you gotta love something than needs a 550hp engine just to drive the fuel pumps though...

If all ancillary's are returned to lenders the cost of assembling the project again will only add to costs, the cost to buy in Times was starting price £250K. (remember motor on loan from MOD)

Totally agree on both your points. Engine driven wheels, definitely! Would love to hear a 550hp V8 starting up, just to be able to start my main engine,

I was "unlucky" enough to see Thrust SSC, day after day for months, when it was sadly parked up on a low loader at Gaydon Services on the M40;
after it had achieved it's record breaking run.

Originally 800hp, later 930hp... Just try to imagine what a pair of big block V8's with no silencers fitted sound like at full chat... and that's before the jet engine they are spinning fires up as well.

The thing I don't understand is when they say that the car is "largely finished", but can't continue without a further £25m investment.

I'm not suggesting anything shady, but genuinely don't understand what still needs twenty five million quid spent on
