Does anyone on here know of or have used a company that make masts ? I`m looking for something triangular or square so not a single pole, and with the ability to raise & lower either the mast itself or a way of attaching an aerial that can be raised or lowered. Going to start looking online now, but thought I would enquire with you knowledgeable people first in case anyone has any experiance.

What you are looking for is known as a "tower". However it is not a good idea to call it that in front of any sensitive entity like the planning department or neighbours etc!

Just sold 3 pneumatic ones are you looking for a sectional if so we have some sections for sale but they are bolt together. with no base we make the base so the mast will fold down using a telehandler usually 70 Ft with a 20 ft pole on top

Aerial facility's make trailer masts so do a couple of other companies all expensive, what head loading are you looking for ? there are some Racal units on Ebay ex MOD heavy but solid

Thanks so far for the suggestions. I have been in contact with TRS radio structures & SMC LTD for quotations. I work for Cambridge University, so don`t think we will have issues with planning or neighbours in the proposed location. Shox Dr that was also an avenue we were exploring as the local travelling community seem to take a likening to certain metals & a nice new shiny aluminium tower would be like a shining beacon to them.

the tilt and crank ones would be ideal 500e. They are only looking at putting small antennae approx. 2kg in weight on top. In fact not long ago they actually sent the antennae up on a drone wich was quite fascinating to watch.

We had that problem in South Wales only it was Andrews LTF5-50 they were after 6 X 150 ft twice anti climb rings with razor wire, anti clime paint, did not stop them.
The last pneumatic we sold had a 10Kg head load cant remember wind will PM you with a tel No for a Racal MOD

So far they have been content with a few hand tools and copper cabling from disused aerials. Last time they paid a visit we had to be aware they didn't get the rest, as they came across fields after harvest. In the end we cut off the rest of the cabling over half a mile long so they had no reason to return.

Yeah our site is alarmed with gated entry as well as security patrolled 24/7, but where they entered they can drop & conceal themselves from view easily. I am actually really close to where Richard (a great forum contributor lives especially on tig) on here lives. It usually is quiet round here.

I have had to rebuild racks of equipment twice for a site in the Bury area after two fires set on sites when they were trying to nick a generator, and some of the radio sites are now two men on site because of issues with scrotes. Many radio sites are remote access and on top of hills.

There was a big commercial site that's second user room was cleared a few years ago had 3 customer CQF 9000 TT bases removed
All our sites are isolated hill tops, a couple are shared, we used to have 20+ but since retirement only 3, saying that lecy went off on one yesterday but I found 5 repair lorry's looking at a Smoking cable never seen so meany lecy men but it was 1650 so nice OTime bill

I can also remember travelling up to Scotland in a big van to remove burnt out gear from a hill top site used by Bord gais eire. It looked like some youth had started a fire on the outside of the room where the LDF 750 cables runs came out, the fire travelled back along the cables and into the room, there must have been some heat in there. we were met by CID asking about security and stuff on site wondering if it was some form of eco terrorism. I binned my overalls after that visit.

CQF 9000 base stations, worked with a load of them 19 inch rack mounted low band system throughout the North West for a system that was installed in what was North West Water Communications, now long gone.

We still have customers with them, you check them each year still working & in speck a couple of customers have the 600 both bomb proof literally.
Did you work on the 6000 mobile, we were renting over 500 mobiles at one time all low band bases were either Storno or MR a mix of mobiles Tait & Storno the 6000 was a beast to program with so meany options.
We got out of that market just in time

Have a small no of customers who still phone rather than the people we sold to

We did some mobile install work for Norweb years ago as part of the Trunked network they had up here, going back must be 20 years ago. I am Glad I am approaching retirement age as the markets ar5e difficult, as most of the major service providers like the water, gas and electrical suppliers basically do not employ the workforce and they are sub contract companies effectively it means they all tend to just use mobile phones for comm's. That being said one of our work colleges went to work for Norweb comms as they still do a lot of in house radio gear and will probably still have a few 6000's in use.

I can go back to when they were around 107 and 140 MHz in frequency, think it's time I gave up.

Just have we did work for Storno not quite in the Vanguard era but close+ quasi-sink systems etc.
We still have a trunk running 3 site 4 Ch in Hi band mainly KW & MR mobiles with microwave links
PTT over cellular is going to kill the next level of radio user.
