Door latch options for thin door.

I am getting complaints from 'indoors about bruises from hitting the door latch on the way out. There is not much room as the bed takes up most of the floor space. I can't seem to find anything more clumsy proof, possibly because I don't know the best search query. You can see that the doors are very thin and are currently fitted with "gate latches".

What might do the job please?

How about something like this, recessed in the 'meat' of the door, cut off the excess metal tongue that SWMBO keeps catching herself on and you retain the original look? [of the door of course, not her ]

I'm thinking of something more old fashioned, the sort of thing fitted to internal doors in the council houses where I used to visit friends in Birmingham. Bit like a metal box surface mounted, with a knobset on a spindle through it.

I'm thinking of something more old fashioned, the sort of thing fitted to internal doors in the council houses where I used to visit friends in Birmingham. Bit like a metal box surface mounted, with a knobset on a spindle through it.

We still have those upstairs and the one on the bathroom has a thumb operated lock on it as well.

Them new magnets will hold the door shut . Bin the sticky out lock .
If you need to keep dogs out use two magnets .
