One of the wood burning stove companies close to where I work. Know a couple of people that work/worked there. The last owner passed away unfortunately and been left to the son who is making a cracking go with it with guidance of others.

Those streets are no longer paved with the gold they used to be. Rope access, inspection, and bolting were all the rage, but you need to pay for your own training, and there is no garuntee of work.
Much of the work is seasonal too. Then there is wind turbines, onshore and offshore, again often seasonal.

You need, BOSIET, MIST, and a medical as a minimum about a grand all in I believe. If you want to do offshore wind its simlar, but yove guessed a different course.
But it doesn't get you a job, all it does is show you have an interest in working offshore.
IRATA level 1 ropes is about 700 I think
Inspection, who knows there are that many now, but you need experience to back them up.
Bolting and on site machining, there are others

Then of course there os ROVs, Siesmic boats, drilling rigs, production platforms, floating production. Plus service companies, wireline, coiled tubing, nitrogen pumping / leak testing, driling equipment/ tools speacilists etc

This.. I never see anything like this advertised it’s more like if you know you know and it’s who you know etc. It’s something different I’d love to do as well just like this

When I left seismic, PGS were looking for University graduates to become gun mechanics, nobody with a degree would want to be thrown all over the North Sea in wintertime, if the OP is skilled and has his papers he should be able to get into some type of offshore work.

It can be done, but you need to make it happen. But does help if you know someone who can tell you what all the terminology means.
You need to know what part of offshore you want to do, then dig and dig. Should be easier now with google, but there is an awful lot of dross to wade through!
There are a few of us on here who can probably answer questions, but like I say you need to know what to ask.
Motor mechanics tend to have more success with service compaines, for example most crane mechanics Ive met are ex mechanics or hgv plant fitters, working for sparrows, fixing cranes, but most can drive them too. Nitrogen pumps, chemical squeeze kit etc are driven by diesel engine skids. A lot of the portable drilling / wirline world is also diesel driven.
Some hing elese to look in to is possibly generator servicing, hospitals, office buildings, etc land fill sites, all yave generators of one form or another, a company caloed Turners are big in this field. There are others.

@Morrisman was also a siesmic guy. But again if you dont know what a iesmic survey is, its unlikley youll know whete to look for a job.

It's always the way, good lads are never about when you need them.
Looking on the Sparrows website there are quite a few jobs, Enermech are another one to try. Be warned though, service work is punishing on home life, a lot of women don't like the other half disappearing for weeks at a time, coming back for a few days then disappearing again.
