Laminate flooring repair

I was thinking an epoxy wood mix perhaps?
Hard to see in the photo but dented in.
Cowboy builders to blame. Friends house.

for a proper job replace the lot...or ,..cock it up and put a rug over it.......shame.......
a friend had a sim experience the sparky droped his hammer from steps and broke a tile....
tiles no longer avail.........what a mess.......

We had some kind of coloured resin that was purpose made for the job. Not sure of details but it must exist. Hopefully for their colour too. It filled small chips quite satisfactorily. A large one like that might be a push but probably better than nothing.

You can get repair kits in DIY stores. I repaired a neghbour's laminate floor which had a 2 inch gouge. If you're careful you can use the the stains that come with the kit with a fine brush and copy the grain pattern after you fill the dent in. My neighbour was very pleased with the result and couldn't find the repair at first until he looked really closely.

I've done it with colourfil before, but that was a smooth finish laminate, not a textured/grain finish.
Plenty of kits out there that come with a selection of fillers.

I would definitely try a damp cloth with a hot, preferably steam, iron. Get the wood nice and damp, not sodden, and apply the cloth and iron.

I don't get it.
They did a lovely job to start with. Then just turned into cowboys at the end.
They fitted an extractor fan in the bathroom. No ducting. Just vents into the ceiling!!!

Usually it is some kind of compressed wood with a plastic/resin surface.
Trouble is the builders are a pair of thick oiks who are now avoiding contact so can't even find out what brand they have used.
I think I will report them to trading standards for the extractor fan. Would play havoc with the spotlights in the ceiling - surely they must have breached some building regs doing that?

I know they bought a load of stuff off Howdens so if it came from there this is their spec

Prob not much good using an iron on that muck.

Personally I hate laminate flooring but there you go.

I have tried an iron on laminate floor years ago and all it did was lift the top layer away, It can be great stuff and a quick fit but i stopped using it due to damage being hard to fix.

Yep, cannot beat real wood...it’s common practice in Eastern Europe, we sell cheap wood from forests and buy laminate flooring because it’s affordable ! Folk are as daft as it gets...
I would not care much about the gouge in the floor, you either unclip it and replace the damaged plank or live with it till you redecorate the room ! By that time you would have learnt your lesson and go for decent parquet flooring- even engineered parquet flooring beats laminate flooring hands down !

Can you replace a plank in the middle or does it all have to come up?

I have used lots of Eastern European oak flooring i got from a bankrupt stock auction, 25mm thick and it looks great in any room and i just re-sanded my office as the floor was looking scruffy and it looks bang on again.
