you might be able to get a gas kit for that Om. Feed little Om with beans and free welding

The idea had crossed my mind

He's bad enough on milk and solids

Gas kits are the same sort of price as electric starters so at the minute it's one or the other Electris rarer though so might have made my mind up

And heavy flywheels keep gene running so I don't curse having to keep starting it by hand

Round here petrols cheaper than gas for me as I can't drive to collect or pay to have delivered.

Gene's petrol, I make bio-diesel from time to time. Bad idea mixing them up, would make gene sick

Home brews for drinking!!! Even if it does bleach your clothes

Distilling is illegal here too and you never get all the water out, maximum purity any layman can hope for it about 95% due to ethanols azeotropic properties, ie: the way it binds to water...

I've got a license for IMS and duty free pure ethanol but the cost is still enormous to run anything off...

imm back with more Q's

after a bit of looking around i have come across:
a sealey 6kw genny for 300 pound

so i went to a hire place and thay sed thay have a 200A welding genny with a bilt in ark welder thats starting to look a bit taty for 500pounds whitch is a bit steep for me

thy guy at the hire places sed i shouldn't use a normal genny to mig weld. he sed the altonator on the welding gennys were diffrent i thort thay just had bigger engines to handle the sudern draw.

your opinions pleas?

A regular generator uses a self-exciting field with a limiter for the voltage. The sudden draw from a MIG can completely collapse the field causing it to take a long time to recover.

Welder/generators use a DC exciter field that can respond to sudden changes in current better.

A regular generator will work, but you need to have 2-3X the max draw of the welder available to work reliably.

i can't find any thing on how mutch power my welder uses but its a 150A mig welder 6kw genny should run that ok right?

150A is about 3KVA. a 6KVA would be th minimum. Should work fine on thinner stuff.

i think the genny is 6kw and 7.5kva whitch makes it sound a bit beter

thanks for you help shenion. i hate desishions like these! really i want something that will alaw me to run my welder at max for short periods of time.
