Sheesh chaps. This is beginning to sound like a conversation between my wife and her sister. You will be talking about curtains and cushions next.

Our job is to put them up.
Her job is to choose the colour, style, size etc.

Our secondary job is to take the blame when her job goes wrong.

As you are using the same tiles, you might want to do the grout the same as the kitchen, so they match. Or white etc for contrast....up to you.

The kitchen ones are still un grouted, another job for this weekend!

52....and I can rebuild a tractor and learn to weld a year after a serious heart operation AND choose colours without having a fragile sense of masculinity threatened. Seems like you have a "lot to learn".....start by not making facile patronising assumptions.

Patronising someone you know nothing about whilst they have been trying to help someone else is clearly "having a go" and telling someone to re-read comments is also patronising. You aren't learning.

BTW ...I'm just about to go into a class to do triple overhead fillet welds with a very exacting tutor....so I don't need this c_ap today thanks.

Well ended up doing it like this after reading through everyone’s advice

Got some jasmine grout to do tomorrow along with some jasmine silicone. The trim was a little tricky but not too bad. Went for two rows as three would have caught half of the sockets and 4 would have caught half the light switch, 5 would have been too much.

Tiled under the sill but you can’t really see it anyway, just wanted the back of the worktop to be sealed

For the tiles that needed pieces cut out i just used an angle grinder which worked really well.

jasmine translates to dirty yellowed white.
Do a small test first mate and give it a day to dry. Easier to rake out a small section if you don't like it.

All finished now, happy with the jasmine

Hardest part was getting the plastic trim looking good, if I was to do it again I could probably do it better.

Wish I had used a silicone finishing tool rather than a finger, would have given a neater finish but hey ho I’m happy enough for my first attempt at tiling

you can use masking tape slightly in from the tiles . gun it in take of excess with finger leaving a slightly radiused finish and take the tape off .perfect every time I finish the 45 degrees trims off using a disk sander shave a touch at a time
