Another MyHermes disaster

So a large item arrived today. A lockable box.

Someone has helpfully prised the lid off to have a peek inside, breaking all the spot welds, ruining the item.

A den of thieves...

Was it just a box with the address stuck on or was it wrapped?

Seems a strange thing to do due to the risk of being reported and caught.

I know Hermes must have the occasional dodgy character working for them but I have to admit I have had no issues at all over hundreds of parcels.

Although they did actually manage to bend a flat bar item which the customer mentioned but was happy to straighten himself, I told Hermes and they refunded me the value of the item even though I had not had to refund and a 'next parcel free' voucher.

Bubble wrap. They managed to bang a few decent size dents into it just for good measure but breaking it open has effectively destroyed it.

They hung onto it for a few days as it had been "routed to incorrect depot". Presumably they do this to cover their tracks or am I just being a cynic. Maybe they have a department for inspecting contents.

I think it had been opened then rewrapped. I didn't expect it would need to be secured!

As an anecdote, minutes later I got another package this time from APC. Because I was fuming, I showed him the damage. He told me one of their depots is next door to a MyHermes/Parcel2Go depot so they can see what "they get up to". He tells me it's a group of Romanians responsible for it. How true that is I doubt we will ever know.

I am chasing P2G for at least a refund but it was my choice to go with P2G, not the seller with whom I have no dispute.

It is possible that instead of a deliberate break in, it has merely been dropped from a great height. There's plenty more damage basically all over. Entire chassis is bent.

+1 They were supposed to send a parcel of mine to Ukraine using FedEx. Talk about a marriage made in hell!

There has to be some dodgyness going on, otherwise they couldnt charge so little......I sent a few items that arrived broken so Ive stopped using them. I go on P2G and whoever pops up....except Hermes....but they are always the cheapest.
Im selling more on Facebook these days........I often buy bits of furniture and do em up.....keeps me out of the pub.....seems easier to sell it via the local group....

Yes I think it was dropped on one corner.

But then somehow the top got pulled open then shut again leaving this crease.

Then there is just inexplicable (new) damage all over.

I can't even work out how they did that!

Probably won't make any difference. P2G asked me for pics of the damage and you had X amount of days to lodge them. I sent them and they confirmed they got them and then nothing. As the time limit approached I emailed a few times without a response then on the last day they said they needed more. I asked more of what and their reply came the next day, sorry you did not upload the pictures requested in time so you are getting sweet FA.
Will never use P2G again and I know personally of at least 4 other people that got the same treatment and one was thousands of £'s of computer equipment all fully insured or supposed to be anyway.

The buckled flange is typical of a drop on the corner.

It looks strange the flange buckling where it has but it's simply the spot where it is the least supported or retained in the construction, have seen similar many times when I was a tin basher and the workshop crane driver was not sober ...usually Mondays.

That's similar to what I got. They gave me a phone number to ring before a deadline. It was a dead line - nobody answered it.

On the few ocassions I've had problems with P2G and Hermes I've always ended up better off. The cost has been refunded and they've always offered extra if I took the refund as pre-paid postage. No eBay fee extra cash and a happy(ish) buyer. Mind you, I did have a real ding-dong with Hermes until I pointed out to P2G that they were responsible because they sold the service. Quickly sorted.

Let me recount my strangest incident with them.

I sent three parcels; one to the West Country, a Trend router table; one to Reading, a Panasonic VHS/DVD combo; and the last to Norfolk, an HP workstation. Parcels one and three arrived, but not parcel two. I started the painful process of tracking it down, contacting P2G and Herpes. After a few days getting nowhere with either I received an email from the chap in Norfolk. He was a bit confused that he'd received a second item that he didn't think was part of the auction. It wasn't, it was the Panasonic recorder

Did I make a mistake?Did I address two parcels to the same address? I knew bl**dy well I hadn't. For some reason he decided to remove the address label and lo, underneath was one bearing the address of the Reading buyer

That took some unravelling, since Herpes blamed me and P2G wanted nothing to do with it.

It was only after I pointed out to P2G, that I had bought the service from them that they bothered to arrange a collection and re-delivery at their cost.

Still, I'd kept the buyer updated with the on-line convos I'd had with the couriers, and he saw the funny side of it and left positive feedback

Recieved a lot through them and never had an issue. Next village over is a different drivet md reguarly see moaning posts re lost parcels
