I'd forgotten Jim did spares, I did contact him when I bought the engine as he has a lot of the factory build records, unfortunately my engine wasn't built by Petter but under licence by J&H McClaren when Petter didn't have the capacity so he doesn't have records for them

See if you have a gasket makers near, they have piles of waste.
I was cutting sump gaskets out of offcuts of 1mm Klinger C-4400 I was getting from a local gasket makers. As well as providing free gasket material they are pretty helpful picking materials.

no idea of the scale but it looks very much like a land rover axle
drive hub member gasket styleI would never be lucky enough for one of those to just fit your but might be

Apologies for the late reply mate...I have searched the workshop, three sheds including the shed of death and been in the loft
There is only one other place they can be but it will be Monday before I am down there, the nightmare is someone has 'borrowed' the box of material and not returned it...that will seriously annoy me because there is a lot of moneys worth and variants of gasket materials in there.
Fingers crossed for Monday.

Conscious, as always, of my Caledonian roots, I make sure to always have cheap and readily available gasket material to hand. I was scandalised when I bought some proper gasket paper a couple of years ago - nearly 50c a sheet it was. A bleedin' cornflake packet is free, tried, and proven to work in all sorts of applications.

Good work....I make a lot of my own gaskets as some can be hard to find for Jap cars.
I recently used the compressed cork/nitrile material that you can get on ebay for a gearbox valve body and it was really excellent to work with. I thought it might fall apart (like the old cork gaskets used to back in the day) but nop it was nice and firm and easy to cut with a knife too.

Hi Robostar5 - this is the stuff I bought but there is plenty of different thicknesses available. Its heat tolerant to 120 apparently .....and my gearbox runs at 70 C so I'm hoping it will last. I'll report back if it doesn't....nice to work with as it doesn't fall apart when you cut it.
