Seen worse on site
I’m getting quite good now at multi run fillets, maybe just a touch too much spatter. What do you think of my latest attempt?

I haveFor a moment there, I thought you said you'd seen worse on this site. Was just about to call you a bitch.![]()
Throw it from the other side of the room transfer, while blindfolded! Is that dip, spray or dribble transfer?
Ok so we’ve had our fun let’s know the real story behind it @Welderpaul
My guess is a “coded welder” who regularly “passes X-ray” tests has applied for a job and had a go at a simple weld test to prove his worth. Then gone to the pub and told his mates he passed it but turned the job down cos he can make £60k on the rigs working 6 months a year.
Just a wild guess mind. Not that I’ve seen it before![]()

I wasn’t a million miles off.Level 2 NVQ apprentice welder, been there, seen it and done it. Totally and utterly useless at every task given, but was keen to weld, and talked long and often about the welding jobs he had done. A couple of my very experienced coded lads spent some time showing him the errors of his ways.
He was proud of this one, bless him.
He only lasted the week because i'm a soft touch. I've never met anyone so spectacularly bad at the most basic tasks bless him. It was like trying to educate pork so it was thanks but no thanks.

I do have to ask though Paul. How did he get to actually start there.
Surely the initial weld test at interview would of not seen him get his boots on.
Set on as an apprentice fabricator, not specifically a welder.
At 18 he had the balls to walk into my office and hold his own to get a start including emailing me his CV there and then and making sure i had it in my hand. Impressive CV and sounded good.
Told him I would give him a weeks trial. Two days in my chief says 'nope'. Tried him at welding as a last ditch attempt to find some glimmer of skill before waving him off. CV obviously a cut and paste google job.
Perhaps holding his own is the only skill he has...![]()

Did he have 2nd year apprentice job knowledge Paul?
Ie what equipment is used for, why we tack in sequence, how to trianglulate to set something square over length,
Maybe he was one of these people that can tell you all about it but simply not put it into practice?
Behave you!!! I’ve just nearly spat tea all over the floor reading that.Thick as pig sh1t mate. Walked into the side of the guillotine 3 times in the same day.
